LAS VEGAS, NV – The Arizona Wildcats (2-0) erupted in Las Vegas to hand UNLV (0-2) a dominating 58-13 loss. It was the much anticipated return of All-American running back Ka’Deem Carey, who missed game one because of a suspension.
Arizona scored on it’s first three possessions, put up another 28 points in the second quarter, and — basically — ended the game at halftime, where the Wildcats led 45-6.
The Wildcat defense came up big too, returning two Nick Sherry interceptions for touchdowns.
It was a dominating performance by Arizona and, in the process, the Wildcats may have figured out a thing or two.
One spot where there were questions was at quarterback. But, B. J. Denker may have solved that problem for coach Rich Rodriguez. Denker scored twice while leading a very efficient offense.
Arizona returns home this week to face the UTSA Roadrunners while UNVL tries to right the ship at home versus Central Michigan.
