SONOMA, Calif. – With one day down and one day to go, the California Golden Bears men’s golf team has three leading individuals at the Alister Mackenzie Invitational held at the Sonoma Golf Club.
Cal’s Joel Stalter is the tournament’s individual leader after the first two rounds, with an 11 under par, 133. Stalter’s teammates Brandon Hagy and Pace Johnson are tied for second place with total scores of 134.
Stalter and Johnson both managed to maintain their positions that they held coming into the tournament, while Hagy started the day tied for the 13th before climbing in to second place with Johnson.
Out of the 16 teams participating at the invitational, California is the leading team with 541 points and is 35 under par. Oregon is a close second with 562 points and 14 under par. Hawai’i currently holds the 16th position with 597 points at 21 over par.
There were 79 golfers at the start of the tournament before David Saka of Hawai’i withdrew after the first round, bringing the total to 78 golfers.
Joe Parkinson of Brigham Young and Jeremy Paul of University of Colorado started the day tied for the 20th position before the pair ended the day tied for sixth.
Last year, Cal won the event with Hagy finishing as the individual champion. Stalter tied for third.
Tee times for Day Two are scheduled to start at 8 A.M. Pacific.
